What is the protocol for taking your personal prescription drugs to another country with you on a trip?

In february my husband and i are going to Brazil to visit his family. I take 2 prescription drugs (that are prescribed by my family physician) i have been taking both medications for 5+ years and they are both cl 1 narcotics. We plan on staying for about 2 months. i guess my question is will i be able just to go through customs in america as well as brazil w/o any problems? or do i need paperwork from my doctor or any other kind of organization for there to be no problems??? and then will i be able to take 2 months worth of meds with me & it still be legal??? the last thing i want to do in this day and time is be interrogated at a airport! i spoke w/ my doctor and he was not to sure what to do, he had never had a patient leave the country for more that a week and advised me to call the airport, but as you can guess everyone i spoke w/ at the airport didn't know the answer, so im hoping you will!!! thanks so much xoxo ashley
