Anyone know how to start my son in home schooling?

Hi, I am looking into home schooling my son, he is 10 and will enter 6th grade next year. I am looking for info about how to start the entire process. I am very confused about the whole thing. Would his current public school have any objections legally? Please don't try to get me to change my mind. I have made up my mind and just need some direction in which way to go on this matter.
