Reading my spark plugs?

I tuned up my 98 civic yesterday. One of my plugs was white on the metal part over the gap, i think that means a lean mixture, but im not sure. Also, if I add a fuel additive, will that fix it? Another plug was reddish, what does this mean and how can I fix it???
