Endometriosis and the pill. How long should I wait?

I have been on the pill for 2 weeks for my endometriosis, but I still have daily period pains. Second to that, I've had a breakthrough bleed that lasted for 5 days and was more like a normal person's period! How long should I wait for the benefits before I call it quits?
