Sugar gliders and guinea pigs?

Two COMPLETELY different critters. Guinea pigs are much easier to keep and become more 'pet-like'. Sugar gliders on the other hand , although they eventually become more or less comfortable with their regular caregivers---are not very 'pet-like'. They are a lot smaller in size than you'd think and have a delicate body. They frighten easily and that can lead to health problems. Guinea pigs are more 'go with the flow' pets. They love to be held and loved. The piggies live on the floor while sugar gliders live on tree branches where they've made nests. In nature they would never encounter each other. When you keep them as pets, you'll need a really huge cage for the tiny sugar gliders so they have room to glide between the branches, which you will have to get, strip of bark, clean and arrange throughout their cage. We had a custom cage for our 3. Guinea pigs can be in a standard cage-as long as it is--roomy enough to play and sleep in. I would never put them together WITH each other, but if you must have both (like in a rescue situation) they need separate cages. Don't expect them to be friends.
